FAQ
What is the difference between Search (Local) and Search (Cloud)?
Your institute supplies a service that records local transmissions of selected TV channels and radio stations that can be selected and archived via the local electronic programme guide (EPG). You also have access to a second EPG that is provided by the Planet eStream Connect service, this is a cloud based TV and radio recording that is managed by Planet eStream.
The "Search (local)" option will allow you to search the programmes that are to be aired or have been cached on the selected channels on the local EPG.
The "Search (cloud)" option will allow you to search the programmes that are to be aired or have been cached on the centrally managed cloud EPG.
Why is it not possible to request a series link for some programmes?
The service creates the Electronic Programme Guide based on data that is transmitted via DVBT and DVBS. This data is generated by the broadcasters and where available will include data that signifies
if
a programme is a part of a series. If this information is not available the option to create a series link will not be shown.
Why is there multiple versions of the same channel?
As the institute runs the Local EPG and Cloud EPG concurrently both services will potentially make the same channel available. When selecting a channel in single mode or changing your preferred channels,
each channel will be labelled as Cloud or Local. It is recommended to select the "Local" version of a channel as the content will be added to your media library quicker.
Please note the Cloud EPG service does provide access to the regional variations of the BBC channels.
How do I view a programme I have requested?
Planet eStream will send a notification email once a programme you have selected has been added to the media library. Simply use the search bar in the top navigation to search for the programme title.
Also, if the programme has been broadcast recently and added to your media library, the programme will be highlighted in orange. Clicking on the programme will then take you to the view page.
How far back can I go to record TV programmes?
Each channel will have a different cache period enabled. When in "multi-channel" mode click on the information icon on the channel logo and it will display the cache date. This date signifies how far back you can go to find previously aired programmes.
What do the colours mean for each programme?
Each programme icon will be coloured based on its current status
- Grey: Programme is yet to air or has not finished broadcasting
- Green: Programme has been aired and is available to be added to the media library
- Dark Green: Programme has been requested from a Cloud EPG channel.
- Yellow: Programme has been selected and is yet to air.
- Purple: Programme has been recorded and is now in the conversion queue
- Orange: Programme is now available on the media library
I can't find the programme I am looking for, are there any other sources?
The TV scheduler is designed to provide access to the most recent TV and radio broadcasts. If you are unable to find the programme you are looking for, or if the item you require was broadcast outside of the cache period, then it is best to use the Planet eStream Connect service
Planet eStream Connect is an archive of over 2 million TV & radio recordings; here you can browse and add items from the library to your Planet eStream library.
